My illustration for the cover of the essay "The Internet Is Not a Place for Girls," written by Silvia Semenzin and published by Einaudi.

I chose to depict a small woman, suspended on a swing, as she lunges toward the screen of a smartphone, open like a portal. From that opening, not light emerges, but flames: a symbol of the dynamics that inhabit the digital world—gender violence monetized by platforms, algorithms that learn and amplify stereotypes, sexism disguised as entertainment, memes, or harmless trends.
It's the patriarchy that morphs, evolves, and thrives within codes.

The protagonist is small, yes, but she continues to push forward: because for many women, entering the digital space means facing a hostile environment in order to change it, demanding a safer, freer, more feminist internet.

This cover is my way of describing that tension: the courage to cross the threshold, despite what burns on the other side.

Synopsis:
"The Internet isn't just technology: it's a terrain of power and desire. Behind the apparent freedom of the web, the same hierarchies of the real world are reinforced. Algorithms learn from stereotypes, platforms monetize gender violence, sexism becomes entertainment. Between revenge porn and sexual deepfakes, but also insinuating itself into mainstream trends and aesthetics, the patriarchy updates itself, disguises itself as a meme, thrives within codes. An essay that dismantles myths, sparks thought, and provides tools. Because the Internet and technology serve us, but we need them free, safe, and feminist."
